"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" gets back in the New York groove for
season five when the show hosts its premiere episodes on Tuesday,
September 4th and Wednesday, September 5th from New York's The Allen Room, Fredrick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.
The show will premiere in New York at a new 11 a.m. time period on WNBC
following the fourth hour of "Today." The show also returns with the
honor of being the only talk show in Daytime Emmy history to win four
consecutive awards for Outstanding Talk Show in its first
four seasons. "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" has now earned an impressive
21 Daytime Emmy Awards since its inception in 2003.
Talk
show host Ellen DeGeneres continues to deliver uplifting, inspiring and
hilarious experiences to viewers and was recently awarded the Daytime
Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host for the third year
in a row. Ellen has had an amazing year, both on and off the set of her
own successful show, with other high profile television appearances
including hosting duties for the 79th Academy Awards and "American
Idol's" "Idol Gives Back" special. Ellen's talent, warmth and insight
have earned her recognition as a global entertainer and household name.
Through her show, she is able to bring her humor, personal warmth,
insight and talent for tackling topical issues and in-depth interviews
into viewers' lives on a daily basis with her distinctive style
touching every aspect of the show.
Season five brings even
more celebrity star power including Senator and Democratic Presidential
candidate Hillary Clinton, fellow comedian Jerry Seinfeld making his
first appearance on the show, Academy Award-winner Reese Witherspoon,
Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx, Jake Gyllenhaal, Denis Leary, Victoria
Beckham, Jessica Alba and many more. Ellen will also welcome other
presidential candidates leading up to the up to the election.
Additionally, Ellen will tackle even more topical discussions of the
day, allowing viewers to connect with the world through Ellen's
perspective on an ever-widening range of issues.
This
season Ellen will welcome radio personality Stryker to the show as her
new DJ. Ted Stryker will make his debut as the DJ on the fifth season
of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Tuesday, September 4th. Each weekday,
Stryker can be seen dancing with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and
chatting with her about everything from pop culture to current events.
Stryker is a well-known Los Angeles-based radio personality and DJ.
Since 1999, fans have heard him announce song titles, discuss artists
and interview celebrities at the legendary rock station 106.7 The World
Famous KROQ-FM in Los Angeles. Stryker also serves as host of the
nationally syndicated radio talk show Loveline with Dr. Drew Pinksy.
Ellen
is also jumping online this season with a fresh new way to keep viewers
up to date with a daily "vlog" on ellentv.com. Viewers can log on and
see Ellen chatting about anything from the day's top headlines to her
newest dance moves. Season five also brings a big birthday for the talk
show host. Ellen will celebrate a milestone birthday as she turns 50.
The birthday celebration will take place throughout the season, leading
up to an unforgettable birthday bash in January 2008.
"The
Ellen DeGeneres Show" will continue to engage viewers this season when
the show teams up with AOL to create an innovative online program that
invites Americans to share photos, videos, and stories about the
entertaining people, places and events in their lives. "The Ellen
DeGeneres Show" will select stories about viewers' hometowns to feature
on a recurring segment, "Wish You Were Here." Ellen is looking for
everything from little towns with big hearts, big cities with small

The syndicated daytime
talker has been embraced by viewers and critics, as well as the entire
entertainment community, by adding six more Daytime Emmys to its list
of achievements, including awards for Outstanding Talk Show, Outstanding Talk Show Host, Outstanding Special Class Writing and Outstanding Directing in A Talk Show, totaling 21 Daytime Emmy Awards during its four seasons. Ellen DeGeneres Show" also hit the road with visits to New York's
Central Park with exclusive performances by pop superstars Justin
Timberlake and Beyoncè and was attended by over 10,000 audience
members. Ellen also hosted Thanksgiving week from New York City with a
very special episode from the legendary The Ed Sullivan Theater – home of "The Late Show with David Letterman" and from New York's The Allen Room, Fredrick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center,
